Heartwood- Tree Stump

Heartwood- 5:10 p.m., August 16^th, in my yard. The dense inner part of a tree trunk, yielding the hardest timber. Characterized by being composed of dead cells darker and harder than the outer wood. The picture of the stump represents heartwood because it has dead outer cells, and lighter inner cells.
